Most people are conscious that as they get older they start to lose muscle tone on their face and body; and whilst many will make an effort to keep their body toned with regular gym workouts or exercise regimes all too often facial toning gets overlooked.
It’s a bit hard to ignore those wrinkles, creases and fine lines looking back at you from the mirror, sure they might denote character, but personally I’d prefer my character to be a little less aged looking.
The good news is that wrinkles and fine lines are a reversible problem if you are prepared to make a bit of effort, and what’s even better you can even fix the problem without any effort, but we’ll get to that shortly.
So if you want to know how to tighten face skin without paying the exorbitant cost of facelift surgery you need to get into the habit of doing facial exercises.
Facial Muscles Need Facial Exercises
When you do facial exercises on a regular basis what you are in effect doing it toning your facial muscles, which in turn firm and tighten your loose facial skin and restore elasticity, leaving you with a more youthful appearance, minimizing or removing those fine lines and wrinkles.
It’s important to keep in mind those wrinkles, creases and laughter lines took a long time to show up on your face so they are not going to disappear overnight, but doing your facial exercises on a daily basis over a consistent period of time will have beneficial result on your facial toning and you will see improvements to your skin if you persist.
Types of Facial Exercises
Before we move on to the different face exercises that you can do, I wanted to mention that there is a quick way to tone facial muscles if you are in hurry and looking for fast results and this is by using a microcurrent facial toning system. Daily Face Exercises
There are a number of critical muscles on your face that need you will need to focus on and these are the areas round your forehead, cheeks, jaw line and eyes. You will need to apply gentle pressure with your fingers to these areas to stimulate the facial muscles. Be careful not to pull or push at your skin too hard or you may be doing more damage. The objective is to stimulate the muscles and get the blood circulating.
1. To reduce wrinkles and firm your eyelids.
Close your eyes and press your index fingers just under your brow. Hold this position for ten seconds, then let go and relax, repeat this five times. This exercise is intended to strengthen the muscle under your brow and minimize wrinkles on your forehead.
2. Strengthening Your Eyelid Muscles.
Place two fingers on each side of your temple, then tilt your head slightly backwards and flutter your eyelashes slowly. This exercise will help with those circles under your eyes and help with droopy eyelids as it also increases circulation.
3. Neck and Jaw Line Exercise
The objective of this exercise is to improve sagging skin on the neck and jaw line by strengthening the muscles. Look upwards at the ceiling, keeping your mouth closed and place your hand across your throat with your index finger and thumb on opposite sides. Now stretch your jaw toward the ceiling this helps the blood flow from the neck to your head and strengthens your neck muscles. Repeat this 10-20 times.
4. Mouth & Lips
To strengthen the muscles surrounding your mouth, you open your mouth and put an index finger to each side of your mouth stretching it wide. Next you slowly close your mouth whilst keeping your fingers firmly in place. Do three sets of this with 10 repeats per set. In addition to strengthening mouth muscles, this exercise will also help to reduce those wrinkles round your mouth.
You need to repeat these exercises every day for a minimum of 10 minutes until you see an improvement in the tightening of your facial skin, confirming that the facial muscles are starting to become toned. This can take between one to three months to see an improvement. Obviously the more time you spend repeating these exercises the faster you will see results.
On a final note whilst facial exercises will help in improving and toning facial muscles you should also ensure you drink plenty of water, follow a healthy and nutritious eating regime and get plenty of rest and sleep.
